My client is a renowned international trading company that has been active in the field of food products since 1974. They distribute meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and dairy products worldwide to manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers in more than 100 countries. Their customers can count on quality and service of the highest level at the best price. They do this with a team of around 35 colleagues, including 20 commodity traders from their head office in Dordrecht, easily accessible from the A16 from Rotterdam and Breda.
Over de functie
As an entrepreneur within the company, you run your own shop. From a to z you are responsible for developing new markets, taking advantage of opportunities and maintaining customer relationships. You negotiate at the highest level and at the cutting edge. Your commercial insight and knowledge of the market will help you with this. This also applies to your intercultural skills. You fine-tune your negotiation style and communication with your client and their cultural background. Whether you do business with a distributor from the Far East or a wholesaler from West Africa, your attitude is professional and knowledgeable.
You are also involved in:
expanding sales with existing and new products in your sales area
maintaining intensive telephone and personal contacts with your customers; you are traveling around 4 to 5 weeks a year and you visit important trade fairs
keeping an eye on developments in the market, both in terms of purchasing and sales
realizing new sales channels; you do this by developing new product-market combinations, among other things
Minimum HBO work and thinking level, for example, gained through a commercial or business education.
About 5 to 10 years of work experience as a sales manager, account manager, export manager or trader, preferably gained in the food industry
Excellent command of Dutch and English, both orally and in writin; you also master the additional international trade language French
Plenty of room in this team to implement new ideas and to initiate plans
